Both Percy William and Leopold William were brothers of Sidney, who died at Etaples after being wounded at Flanders in 1917.

Carole Ford says: ”I never met Percy William as he died in 1929  (DOB 1885). I understand this premature death at the age of 44 was as a result of the mustard gas he suffered in the WW1 trenches. (There is an account of his life as a grocer in Hampstead in Stories 15).

I was always told that his brothers had died during WW1, so I was surprised to find from Ancestry that Leopold survived until 1964. He was five years younger than Percy William and worked as a stone carver. He travelled away from London, but returned at the time of his death. For whatever reason the family lost contact with him at some point. “

Thanks to Carole Ford for this

Percy joined the Freemasons in 1921.
