Anthony Gotts: record holder

Anthony pushed his wheelchair from Land’s End to John O’ Groats in 20 days. He is the first person in history to do it, and even beats the powered wheelchair record by 10 days.

He was supported by his friends and family, together with Marquis providing a motorhome for the team, and many of the campsites giving them free stays.

During this amazing achievement Anthony raised 2,440 pounds along the way for The 53 Foundation, who create opportunities for people with disabilities.

The start: Land’s End

His back story

Anthony was an active runner with Rossendale Harriers, captain of the track and field and coaching as well. In 2007 he was invited to join the British team in the World Ultra Multi events Championships in Finland, doing 20 different events. Things went badly wrong in landing in the long jump, with injuries similar to falling off a motorbike at speed.

In this blog Anthony talks more about his history.
